All the good things the land has to offerHeumen is a green and rural district on the banks of the Maas, dead south of Nijmegen and bordering on both Brabant and Limburg. Of the four villages in this district Nederasselt, Overasselt and Heumen have largely preserved their original character. Malden, the largest village, has grown into a modern residential area with a wealth of amenities. The Roman watch tower in the Heumensoord woods, its outline still visible, proves this area has been inhabited for a long time.
A stay in one of the villages (Malden, Heumen, Overasselt and Nederasselt) means finding nature on your doorstep and entertainment within cycling distance. Nature is extremely varied here: the forelands along the Maas, the Overasselt pools and Heumensoord in Malden, which perfectly grades into the hills around Groesbeek. You will find picturesque pools, forelands and woodlands here. Combined with extensive walking and cycle routes and bridle paths Heumen is ideally suited to those looking for peace and quiet. Maisdoolhof Malden (corn maze) is a great place to visit with children.ActiveWhatever your preference, an active holiday or a relaxing one, Heumen has plenty to choose from! The river Maas is ideal for water sports and if you have a boat you can go to the marina of Watersportvereniging Maas en Waal (aquatic club). From Zweefvliegveld Malden (glider airport) you can take to the air. Fear of flying? You can also just sit there having something to eat and drink and watch the gliders. Swimmers can indulge themselves at the indoor swimming pool in Malden or relax at Sauna & Beauty Oase. For a sports challenge try and score points at Bowlingcentrum De Molen in Malden. In the woods of Heumen lies Paardensportcentrum De Veerkracht (equestrian centre), where you can ride under supervision. Or put on your roller-skates or roller-blades!
