A place worth visitingComprising seven residential areas, Lingewaard is a rural district between Arnhem and Nijmegen in the Gelderse Poort area of scenic beauty. Lingewaard is an ideal base for bike rides along dikes and walks across forelands along the Waal, Lower Rhine and the Pannerdensch Canal. You may come across herds of Galloway cattle and Konik horses.
RuralKnown for its mediaeval Doornenburg Castle, Lingewaard is the first village participants in the Four-Day Marches pass through. The castle lies in the heart of vast meadows and is only a short distance from the Linge, along which runs a 7 km cycle path criss-crossing the rural landscape. Lingewaard is easy to access by ferry. EventsLingewaard is known for its art galleries, museum Hof van Hessen, De Hofstèèj horticultural museum, Het Dijkmagazijn nature and education centre, Fort Pannerden, Gildenkapel and the rifle club festivities, Bemmel pony market, Dweildag (Oompah Bands’ Day) and Kortebaandraverij (horse racing), Gendt cherry festival, Huissense Dag, Huissense Umdracht, flower and book market.
